Zur Info: Wer heute am frühen Abend Zeit und Lust hat, kann sich die Landung des Space-Shuttle live im Internet ansehen und zuschauen, wie Pamela* ihre Jungs wieder sicher auf die Erde bringt. Der erste Landeversuch in Florida ist für 19:01h MEZ geplant und beginnt mit dem Zünden der Bremsraketen um 17:59h MEZ; sollte dies nicht klappen, ist die alternative Landung ein Erdumlauf (=90 Minuten) später vorgesehen, d.h. 19:34h MEZ erfolgt der "de-orbit burn" und "touchdown" wäre dann um 20:36h MEZ.
Dabei kann nicht nur die Landung vom Boden aus verfolgt werden, sondern auch die Live-Ansicht z.B. aus dem Cockpit der Discovery ist zu sehen. Nicht nur die Starts und Landungen des amerikanischen Spaceshuttle oder Aktivitäten auf der Intern.Raumstation kann man live verfolgen;auch die europäischen Kollegen von Arianespace übertragen den Start von Ariane-Trägerraketen live im Internet. Wer heute am späten Abend Lust hat, kann sich den Start der Ariane5-Rakete aus Kourou (Franz.Guayana) anschauen; an Bord der Trägerrakete sind diesmal wieder zwei Satelliten: Skynet 5B (ein britischer Militärsatellit) und Star One C1 (ein brasilianischer Kommunikationssatellit). [ Terminator-Fans werden aufhorchen: Der Name des britischen Satelliten ist der gleiche, wie das Computernetzwerk aus der Schwarzenegger-Trilogie, das die Herrschaft über die Menschen übernimmt...]
Das geplante Startfenster ist zwischen 23:04h und 23:59h (MEZ) geöffnet, die Übertragung beginnt ca. 20 Minuten vor dem Start (also ca. 22:45h)
(Besonders witzig finde ich den Countdown, der dann die letzten Sekunden laut heruntergezählt wird; anstelle des aus Houston bekannten "three - two - one" kommt dann das entsprechende "trois - deux - un" von dem französischen Flightdirector im Kontrollzentrum...)

On its fifth launch of the year Arianespace will boost two satellites into orbit: the Skynet 5B military communications satellite for the British Ministry of Defense (MoD) through the Astrium company Paradigm, and the Star One C1 commercial communications satellite for Brazilian operator Star One, as part of a turnkey contract with Thales Alenia Space. Through proven reliability and availability, Arianespace and Ariane continue to set the launch service standard for the world’s leading space communications operators. It will be launched from the Ariane launch complex N° 3 (ELA3), in Kourou, French Guiana.
THE ARIANE 5 "ECA" LAUNCHER LIFT-OFF for this flight is scheduled during the night of November 9 to 10, 2007 as soon as possible within the following launch window:
